Becoming Orthodox

If you're feeling drawn to the Orthodox Church, we invite you to begin a journey of discovery. Becoming Orthodox is not merely joining an organization, it's entering into the fullness of the Christian faith as preserved and practiced for two thousand years.

The process typically takes about a year and involves regular attendance at services, meeting with Fr. Mark, and formal catechism classes. This period of learning and discernment allows you to fully understand and embrace the Orthodox faith.

In ROCOR, we do not receive catechumens through Chrismation only, but always through Baptism and Chrismation. This is the tradition of the Church from antiquity and speaks to our belief that it is the Church alone that is the fount of grace and the dispenser of the mysteries of Christ.

The Process
