If you would like to tithe to the church, cash and checks can be dropped off in the boxes at the back of the church, or consider signing up for automatic tithing via tithe.ly. Every contribution helps keep our lights on and our services going. Our treasurer Rdr. Marcian is always available to answer any questions. “So let each one give as he purposes in his heart, not grudgingly or of necessity; for God loves a cheerful giver.” (2 Corinthians 9:7)
With the celebration of the Baptism of Christ, (January 19) we begin the traditional season for home blessings. Most house blessings will take place on Saturdays and Sundays. Exceptions, of course, can be made to adjust to individual schedules. Anyone who would like their home blessed may contact Fr. Mark via text or phone call at: 304-888-4576. Fr. Mark will provide the holy water and other blessing implements. It is traditional to have a candle and icons on a centrally located table for the prayers. Blessings can be done until late February, and the cutoff date is the beginning of the Great Fast (Feb.23). (And a reminder from the administrative team: it is customary to gift the priest performing a house blessing a small honorarium, a meal, or some other small token of appreciation.)
The Great Fast begins soon, on February 23rd. On Meatfare (February 14th), we will have our third annual Meatfare cookout. Please use the sign up sheet linked below to volunteer to bring dishes and meat to this special trapeza. And a reminder that you must take home whatever you bring— meats, drinks, desserts, etc. as we cannot use the church refrigerator to store them.
